FAQ

What is Spark?

Spark is a network of millions of people who are earning rewards for sharing unused internet bandwidth with the Spark network.

Your participation in the Spark network represents your contribution to building a more equitable internet and provides you with the opportunity to own a part of the Spark network. Since everyone already pays for Internet, why not put your idle connection to work?

Why does Spark exist?

Spark exists to build a fairer internet where you can directly benefit from large corporations using your unused internet bandwidth.

Most of us skip reading Terms and Conditions, allowing companies to quietly access our devices' "unused network resources" for profit. With Spark, you're back in control—download the app, and get rewarded for sharing your unused bandwidth.

How does Spark work?

With just three clicks, Spark lets you take control of your internet and earn rewards by sharing your unused internet bandwidth with the network.

Spark allows verified institutions to use your bandwidth to support their online services, while your contributions are tracked as Spark Points. These points, along with factors like how your bandwidth is used and your location, help determine the Spark Tokens you may receive.

Spark makes the Internet a place where everyone benefits — companies and users alike. Rest assured, your personal data is not accessible to Spark or anyone else.

How is Spark used by verified institutions?

Verified institutions use Spark to reward you for sharing your unused bandwidth, which helps them improve products and services. This bandwidth may be used for tasks like checking local prices, viewing regional ads, or conducting academic research.

What are Spark Points?

Your contributions to the Spark network are tracked through the awarding of Spark Points, which are shown on your account through the Spark Dashboard.

Spark Points are used as a factor to determine the number of Spark Tokens that you are eligible to receive. The way your bandwidth is used and your location are also factors that are used to determine number of Spark Tokens that you are eligible to receive.

What are Spark Tokens?

Spark Tokens are the rewards you earn for sharing your unused internet bandwidth with the Spark network. They reflect your participation and contribution to building the network, giving you a way to own a part of the infrastructure you help power.

By participating, you’re not just earning rewards, you’re playing an essential role in powering internet infrastructure. Your unused bandwidth supports live data access for real-world applications.

Who can receive Spark Tokens?

You may not currently be eligible to receive Spark Tokens if you live in a jurisdiction that is subject to sanctions or significant regulatory risk. A list of relevant jurisdictions that are not currently eligible is available.

For users in the United States and Canada, the Spark Foundation will make payouts available soon.
